
This afternoon, the Residential Management and Service Learning Team Leader, Mr. Wang Ruichang, and Ms. Lin Zili led the students of the "4-English-1A" and "4-English-1B" and Ms. Yang Shujing led the students of the "4-Dance-1A" Diversified Service Learning Course to the Yujing District of Tainan City, where the students participated in the "Tien-Pu Community Loofah Experiment" program. The community first arranged a tour of the "Tianpu Art Elephant Garden (Silkmelon Garden)" for the teachers and students to learn about the ecology of the silkmelon, observe the changes in the growth of the silkmelon, and learn about the process of the silkmelon from the seed to the fruit and the process of composting, as well as to learn about the ecology of the silkmelon, the characteristics of natural farming, and the characteristics of the industry in the silkmelon garden, and also through the explanation by the two docents, to learn about the importance of soil and water conservation and to establish the concept of caring for the environment, and to strengthen the concept of working together to protect the earth and the environment. Through the explanation of the two tour guides, they also learned about the importance of soil and water conservation and built up the concept of caring for the environment, reinforcing the idea of protecting the earth and ecology together. Then we entered the "Shatin Activity Center" for the "Silk Honey Soap DIY" activity. The guide explained the following: "First cut the soap base into small pieces, then throw the pieces of soap base into the pot that has been filled with water, and heat it up slowly over medium-low heat, don't mix it up in a hurry, so as not to make bubbles in the future, when it is heated up to the point that all of the soap base is melted, then pour the melted soap base into a bucket slowly. Then add honey, glycerin, essential oils (tea tree, lavender, lemon, peppermint) (you can choose 1 or 2 essential oils), mix gently, do not move too much, so as not to produce unsightly bubbles, wait until it is all mixed, and then pour it into the model box containing the loofah brand, and then cool down the mold will be completed". Teachers and students said that today's environmental education activity was very meaningful and they would do their best to contribute to the environment and ecology.
